Thursday 8th August is St Dominic's Day. He worked to counter false ideas about God and Jesus. I think he's probably someone who has inspired Pope Francis to do things the way he does......

The 7th August is the feast day of seven martyrs - Pope Sixtus and six of his deacons. They were all summarily executed for defying the Roman Emperor Valerian's order to worship pagan gods and deny their Christian faith.
